AFSFA HoF MedallionPURPOSE:  Publicly recognize the value of significant contributions to AFSFA.

PROGRAM:  AFSFA has established a Hall of Fame (HOF) to recognize members who have made significant contributions to the AFSFA.  The AFSFA Board of Directors (BOD) carefully reviews all nominations each year.  Although there is no minimum annual number of selectees, and the BOD may decline to select any inductee not meeting the criteria, generally not more than three (3) inductees are selected per year.

CRITERIA:  To be eligible for consideration for the HOA, a Nomination Form must be used by the nominating member.  The information must be as complete and relevant to AFSFA operations as possible.  While a noteworthy service record is admirable, the AFSFA HOF considers only members with significant contributions to the AFSFA.

REVIEW PROCESS:  The AFSFA BOD will review all submitted nominations at the Annual Meeting, in a closed session of the Board.  Nominations will be disclosed to the BoD by the Executive Director (ED) and discussed.  The nomination disclosures and reviews will not be recorded or disclosed to the public or membership.  The ED will determine the discussion format and voting.  Following discussions only duly elected and appointed Directors and elected Officers, will vote on the nominations.  Neither the ED nor any yet-to-be-appointed BOD member has a vote. The BOD has the final decision for nominee selection, but there must be at least a 2/3 majority of votes for selection of any nominee.  There is no right of review of the BOD decision.

RECOGNITION:  HOF selectees will be recognized at the Annual Meeting closing dinner with a medallion presentation and their names will be added to HoF plaque.

AFSFA History

A Proud Heritage
Security Forces Prayer
Bond of the Blue Beret
Security Forces Pledge

The Air Force Security Forces Asociation was incorporated as a Texas not-for-profit association in August 1987. It grew out of a reunion in Las Vegas, Nevada, in June 1986. Captain (ret) Joe Grimes, publisher of the "Guardmount" newsletter (no longer published), set up the reunion. Approximately 75 people attended. This group was mostly retired Security Police officers and NCOs. These became the founding members of the Association.

Col (Ret) Jerry Bullock, CMSgt (Ret) Royge Hudson, and CMSgt (Ret) Larry Larios were tasked to write the Articles of Incorporation. LtCol (Ret) Robert Cobbs prepared the By-laws. All were adopted at the 1987 annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas. BGen (Ret) William R. Brooksher, former USAF CSP, was elected the first president of AFSPA.

The following have served as President of the Association:

William R. Brooksher
Sam Stocks
Bob Swing
Ed Johnson
John Probst
Bob Christy

Our magazine/newsletter has been published continuously since 1987. The name Tiger Flight came from the long nights so many spent in Vietnam on the tiger flight from "0-dark thirty to 0-dark thirty." For most of these years, the magazine was edited and published by Col (ret) Nick Keck. Dr Lucille Bullock then took over editing and publishing responsibilities until 2020. In 2014 Tiger Flight was renamed Security Forces Magazine and now features limited color, a new design throughout and became available in either print or electronic versions.

Our major project was the placement of the Defender statue at the Museum of the United States Air Force, Dayton, Ohio. This $130,000 project was completed over a 10-year period, beginning with the placement of a simple memorial bronze plague.

Explore our website for a listing of the accomplishments of the past 3 plus decades. These are remarkable, especially because we are an all-volunteer organization. There have never been paid employees. In a very special way AFSFA is you.

The AIR FORCE SECURITY FORCES ASSOCIATION

Security Forces men and women, welcome to your website. If you are not a member, please consider joining with the professionals of your Security Forces Association.

The Air Force Security Forces Association is a world-wide organization of Security Forces professionals with local chapters. Since its birth in 1986, it has been a significant factor in preserving and enhancing the honor and pride that are inherent in the Security Forces career field. Our membership spans generations, encompassing the military policemen (air provost marshals) of World War II and continuing over the years to the men and women who are serving their first hitch today.

Membership is open to anyone who has served honorably in the Army Air Corps MPs, Air Police, Security Police, or is now serving in the Security Forces career field--or that component of the Air National Guard, Air Force Reserves, IMAs, or DAF police officers.
